Runaround Getaway Series Jay Crownover 9781790940714 Books Reviews

  • Runaround is one of those books that I've been waiting for. When we met Tennyson McKenna in previous books in the Getaway series, I was always intrigued and I had a feeling there was a lot more "soft"under the tough exterior that Ten always showed to the world. I'm so glad that Jay Crownover chose to give us her story, along with that of Webb Bryant, the drifter who hasn't found a way to stay in one place for an extended period of time.

Webb seems to attract trouble. Whether he wants to or not, that seems to be what always happens. He and his brother Wyatt have been all the other has for most of their life after their mother all but left them to fend for themselves. Webb had to do things he isn't proud of to stay out of trouble, yet it always seems to find him anyway. When trouble once again finds him out of nowhere, he is not only left to prove to Ten, the woman who might just be the thing to keep him in one place, and to the law that he isn't guilty of doing what they have accused him of.

As they say, Ten is married to her work. She hasn't been lucky in love since her first love fell in love with another woman and the man she was engaged to wanted to turn her into someone she isn't. With all that in mind, she swore off love and relationships. When Webb ends up in trouble, Ten finds herself face to face with that ex-fiance who seems hellbent on doing anything he can to see Webb end up behind bars. Utilizing skills from her previous job, Ten is all in to help prove that Webb is the man she believes he is.

The love story of Ten and Webb certainly did not disappoint. Not only did these two strong willed people fight the feelings they were feeling, they also had to fight outside forces to end up where they really wanted to be - together. Jay Crownover has such a way of crafting a story which makes you feel as though you are right in the middle of it all. I feel for the characters; when they hurt, when they love and when they triumph. This was an amazing addition to the series and I would highly recommend not only this one, but the first three as well!
  • That was fantastic, I am hoping that my reading mojo is well and truly on its way to staying back.

I’ve really enjoyed the Getaway Series, following the Walker Brothers, has been fun, and now we get Tennyson and Webb’s story. It is part of a series, which needs to be read in order, otherwise you won't understand the storyline as much.

They were really great together, the anchor’s they both needed, even if they didn’t think they did.

They both ‘got’ each other, and worked hard on making each other understand the severity of their feelings.

Their story was a thrilling suspense, with an awesome love story running through it.
They were both individually sensitive people, with back stories to make your toes curl, and they both handled their pasts somewhat gracefully but seeing them both coming to terms with their pasts together was so beautiful.

They didn’t give each other worked they thought they wanted to hear, they both dealt with their feelings and then passed them feelings onto the other with such ferocity of truth, you felt it as you read it.

The suspense of will they /wont they in their love life and also in their fight for getting to the bottom of the misdemeanours going on, really had me turning the pages, not to mention the hotness levels between Ten and Webb.

I loved the curve ball of surprise siblings, wow what a piece of work!

This will leave you wanting more, an I hope that we get Wyatt’s story next, I think that is going to be fun seeing those big burly guys admitting and accepting what is right in front of them.
  • I’ve been patiently waiting for Webb and Ten’s story (who am I kidding, I’m permanently impatiently waiting for everything Jay Crownover). Never really cliffhangers, but always a ‘left wanting the next hero right now’ kind of stories. All her leading men are heroes in their own way. And Webb Bryant is no different, in fact he exceeds all expectations, he sets his heart on Tennyson McKenna and he goes all in, no holding back, and do you know what? It makes him sexy as hell. Then we have Ten, a strong independent woman who’s been let down badly before, so much so, that she won’t take any more sh!t. This makes her seems a little bit standoffish and harsh. Good job that Webb’s in it for the long haul. He’s willing to peel away all her layers, one by one. Can they find the person responsible for framing Webb without anyone dear to them getting killed? Together they’re doing their best. Wonderful characters and wonderful writing. Suspense, action and romance with a few surprises along the way. Loved loved loved.
  • Webb...ahh! I was so excited to get Webb’s story. I just loved him in the other books and how he kept trying to get Ten to notice him. Well he finally broke through her tough exterior in this book. She really did like Webb from afar, but wouldn’t dare act on it. It took trouble to find Webb again for her to soften to him. They are six years apart,( Ten being older) but from all the life experiences that Webb has already endured makes him wiser than his years. Now that the two have finally acted on the chemistry they have for one another, it is amazing! How they have realized that they need one another to be complete. The fourth book was as good as the first in the Getaway series). I like how Jay introduced us to Loveless in this book as well! Can’t wait to read that series! You will not be disappointed in this book, so run out and grab it!
