"I read this book over 6 months ago , I regret I did not write a review sooner. I wasn't too sure how Mary Lu would do outside of writing about pirates. I have always enjoyed her style of writing, it's easy to follow, you get to know the characters very well, you care about the characters, her stories are never boring. I really almost didn't make the purchase because I just wasn't sure if there were not any pirates that I would find her writing as interesting. If that may be holding you up on making the purchase, may I reassure you that you will not be disappointed by this book. Without any spoilers, I just want you to know this is a great book and worth your investment in time and money . I would give this a 4.5 star rating, I rarely rate anything a 5 . However, Amazon doesn't allow for half star ratings , and this book is more than just likable. Well done Ms. Tyndall, very impressive.
And she has to have an excellent editor, I very rarely have ever found an error in any of her books, which adds to enjoying reading them, they just unwind right before your minds eye."

- It is no secret that I love books that deal with spiritual warfare and I think this element is often missing in Christian fiction. We sometimes forget that we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places~Ephesians 612.
She Walks In Power shows you that the enemy is working against you. He does not want to see you succeed. He will use people who are willing to carry out his dark plan because he wants to win. He won't give up. But, this story showed that servants of God have to be diligent, wise, prayer warriors who trust in Him and not man. God's plan may seem foolish at times, but trust that it will work for your good.Â
I admit that Alexia annoyed me at times. Her stubborn behavior made me angry and I wanted to shake some sense into her, but I understood that she was moved by her love for her sister and justice. Thank God Ronar had a level head. But, I was also angered by how easily those who were supposed to be ambassadors for Christ were abusing His love. They didn't really know Him and used His Word to keep others in bondage.
This is a awesome story and I could read it over and over again. The message that lies between the pages is one that everyone needs to read. It is life, love and peace. Both Alexia D’Clere and Ronar LePeine have been through very hard times and that has shaped who they are at the start of the book. Alexia’s past is presented in bits and pieces from the very beginning. Ronar’s integrity and character is shown and painted in great detail and then much later we are told about his past that drives him to be the way he is.
Throughout the novel there is a war going on between good and evil in the spiritual realm and there is never any doubt as to which character is on which side of this battle. I was captivated by the development of this battle and how both Alexia and Ronar grew in their understanding of God’s power and the need to trust in Him. I also liked the fact that they each had strong supportive friends that helped them right from the start.
There is a warlock and manifestations of demons so if this is something you don’t want to read about you may want to skip this book.

As far as I know, this is her first medieval book. This medieval story is just as swoon-worthy and adventure-filled as her pirate stories. I love how this is set-up where the heroine is like a Robin Hood figure and the hero is tasked with tracking her down. She sneaks into the castle to help her ailing sister, and since the hero is at the castle as well, he quickly figures out who she is, but can’t bring himself to turn her in. I love how the situation is set up, so that Alexia is forced to run into him. Alexia is adventurous and brave, while Ronar is gentle, yet intense and determined. He’s willing to do anything to save and protect Alexia, even if it’s against her own will.
And I have to give Mary Lu Tyndall points for being un-cliché. At one point, the hero swoons. Well, not really. He’s wounded, and he wants to find out more about the heroine and where she lives. The heroine is about to dart back into the forest, so the hero swoons. Then the heroine is forced to stay with him to make sure wolves don’t eat him in the night. The heroine does leave briefly, but only to return with the friar.
“I had hoped to find him gone,†she said. “But alack, he not only swoons like a girl, he sleeps like a babe.â€
Ronar ground his fist into the dirt.
“A rather large knight,†the friar said. “And quite handsome.â€
Ronar liked this friar.
Before this, I was slogging through a story that either wasn’t for me or was poorly written. Reading this book afterwards was like a breath of fresh air. Their relationship is just so sweet and amazing, and it felt like I was physically aching when I had to stop reading for brief periods of time.
All that to say I completely recommend this 😉
